February 21-22, 2020
The truth is every student is going to leave their church, their school, and their home. They will inevitably grow up. They are going to go out into the world where they are going to make decisions for themselves based on the training they’ve received. It’s part of my responsibility as a student minister to equip students with the skills and knowledge to make wise and Christ-honoring decisions even after they leave the student ministry.
The student ministry’s purpose is to play a part in discipling middle school, high school, and college-aged students to use their God-given gifts and abilities to know Jesus and others better, to love Jesus and others more, and to serve Jesus and others well.
In short, our mission is to help teach your student to know, love, and serve Jesus first. Then to know, love, and serve others.
A win for this student ministry is seeing a student become an adult (5, 10, or 20 years down the road) with an active, consistent, and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and watching them learn more, love more, and serve more every day through their local church.
Jarrid Hawkins is our Minister to Students. He serves students from 7th grade into College. After serving 7 years in the Army, Jarrid joined our staff in 2014.
Emma French is our Student Ministry Associate. She began working here in 2016 upon graduation from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.
Student Serving and Student Leadership
If you are a student who is interested in serving in the student ministry or in any of our church’s ministries, we’d love to hear from you. There are plenty of opportunities for you to use the gifts God has given you to serve others in the local church. We want to help you figure out what those are!!
There are opportunities all year to serve during Journey, in the Children’s Ministry, and in our Music Ministry. Typically, during the summer, we offer a few classes to help develop our student leaders to take a larger role within our student ministry. Every student is able to attend our leadership classes if they are interested. Please contact Jarrid or Emma for more details!
ministry only happens because of our adults
Adults serve in the student ministry in a variety of ways, and we are always on the lookout for adults who are passionate about serving teenagers. If you are a member at FBC Rockwall and are interested in serving in our student ministry, please contact Jarrid for more details.
